About the Department

The Department of Political Science was established in 2014, coinciding with the foundation of the college, with the objective of providing students with a deep understanding of politics, governance, and society. Since its inception, the discipline has grown to encompass not only the study of national political structures but also the dynamics of global political affairs. Its interdisciplinary character makes Political Science a vibrant and intellectually rewarding field, inspiring curiosity and critical inquiry. The department serves as a hub of knowledge where students are encouraged to develop analytical reasoning, civic responsibility, and democratic values, thereby preparing them for both academic advancement and meaningful contributions to society.

Academic Programs

The department offers Political Science as an elective subject at the undergraduate level, focusing on the Indian Constitution, Political System, key concepts in Political Theory, Comparative Politics, and major developments in International Relations.

Vision

The vision of the Department of Political Science is to deliver quality education, with a special focus on students from rural and economically weaker backgrounds, while inspiring them to pursue Political Science in higher education. The department strives to nurture responsible, knowledgeable, and competent citizens who can contribute meaningfully to society, and also provides a supportive platform for students to showcase their talents, creativity, and potential.

Mission

Our mission extends beyond imparting syllabus-based knowledge. The department aspires to inculcate a sound philosophy for holistic living by equipping students with critical thinking, democratic values, and social responsibility. We strive to prepare students not only as competent job seekers but also as self-reliant, socially committed citizens who are aware of their rights and duties. By doing so, we aim to nurture a generation that contributes to tolerance, justice, and the betterment of society.

Activities

To enrich the learning experience, the department organizes a range of student-centric activities such as classroom discussions and debates, quiz competitions, essay writing contests, extension lectures, and awareness programs, along with life-skill development sessions beyond classroom hours. These initiatives are thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, promote critical thinking, strengthen academic engagement, and foster leadership qualities among students, thereby enabling them to grow both intellectually and personally.
